Synopsis
Wellnesse to go
What was supposed to be a relaxing wellness getaway turns into something entirely different. Four days of peace, relaxation, and perhaps even the rescue of a marriage that has seen better days. At least, that’s how Melitta Mann sees it. Her husband Norman, however, considers wellness retreats one of humanity’s more questionable inventions. In his opinion, anyone who voluntarily places cucumber slices over their eyes, listens to singing bowls, and sits in hot water despite having a perfectly functional bathtub at home has already lost control of their life.
Nevertheless, the couple finds themselves at the Schwanfeld Wellness Hotel. And from the very beginning, nothing goes according to plan.
It becomes clear at check-in that Norman and relaxation are unlikely ever to become friends. While Melitta optimistically searches for ways to rekindle their relationship, her husband battles saunas, forest bathing, facial masks, and every other absurdity of modern self-care culture. As if that weren’t enough, he unexpectedly runs into his political archrival, Roy Beer—a man who is not only far more cheerful than Norman but, unfortunately, far more popular as well.
Between couples therapy sessions, wellness treatments, and a variety of esoteric activities, things quickly spiral out of control. A psychologist dealing with surprisingly dramatic problems in her home aquarium, a relentlessly optimistic physiotherapist, a hotel manager with remarkably resilient nerves, and two inquisitive regular guests ensure that life at Schwanfeld is never dull.
As Melitta tries to win her husband back, Norman finds himself drawn deeper and deeper into a world of singing bowls, chakras, forest bathing, and other adventures he never intended to experience. Misunderstandings multiply, jealousy begins to surface, and before long it seems that every guest at the hotel knows more about the Manns’ marriage than the Manns themselves.
But sometimes that is exactly what it takes: a little chaos, a few well-meant pieces of advice, a handful of bad decisions, and a series of extremely unfortunate coincidences for people to rediscover what truly matters.
“Wellness to Go” is a lively comedy filled with wit, lovable eccentric characters, and delightful misunderstandings. A play about love, second chances, and the realization that the path to inner peace sometimes leads straight through complete chaos.
